The Workshop is organized by the BioSapiens and viRgil Networks of Excellence of the EU

BioSapiens is a Network of Excellence, funded by the European Union's 6th Framework Programme, and made up of bioinformatics researchers from 25 institutions based in 14 countries throughout Europe. The objective of the BioSapiens is to provide a large scale, concerted effort to annotate genome data by laboratories distributed around Europe, using both informatics tools and input from experimentalists.


European surveillance network for vigilance against viral resistance (VIRGIL).This project aims to integrate and coordinate the activities of physicians and scientists from many institutions in 12 European countries in order to combat current and emerging antiviral drug resistance developments. The joint effort is initially directed towards three major infectious diseases: influenza and viral hepatitis B and C. The project is supported by a grant from the European Commission.
